A plain-language explanation of what data Lakeline Labs collects, how it's used, and how you stay in control of it.
Who we are
Lakeline Labs LLC ("we," "us," "Lakeline Labs") is an independent software studio based in Austin, Texas. This policy describes how we collect, use, and protect information from visitors to lakelinelabs.com and users of our apps, including Cortex.
What we collect
On the website: If you submit the contact form or subscribe to the newsletter, we collect your name (optional), email address, and the content of your message. We may also collect basic anonymous analytics (page views, referrer) to understand how the site is used.
In our apps: Our apps are designed to store your data on your device first. Any data that syncs to the cloud is encrypted. We never sell your data, we never share it with advertisers, and we never use it to train AI models without your explicit consent.
How we use it
- To reply to your messages and support requests
- To send you newsletters you've subscribed to (you can unsubscribe any time)
- To improve our products based on anonymized, aggregated patterns
- To comply with legal obligations where required
Third parties
We use a small number of trusted third-party services: Netlify (website hosting and form processing), Google Fonts (font delivery), and Microsoft 365 (email). When we launch apps, we'll use Firebase and RevenueCat for backend infrastructure. Each of these has their own privacy policy, and we only share with them what's strictly necessary for them to function.
Your rights
You have the right to access the data we have about you, correct it, or request its deletion. Email legal@lakelinelabs.com with any request and we'll respond within 30 days.
Data retention
Contact form submissions are retained for up to 2 years for support and legal purposes. Newsletter subscriptions are retained until you unsubscribe. App data retention is covered in each app's in-app privacy disclosure.
Children
Our services are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe we have, contact legal@lakelinelabs.com and we'll remove it promptly.
Changes
We'll update this policy as needed. Material changes will be announced on the website or via email if you're a subscriber. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
